• The Martyr is Entering

The Martyr is Entering The martyr is entering now, So may you all raise your heads! Repeat that hymn! The liberation Square is boiling and bubbling up! The exquisite fountains! All are revolting again The fountains water is bloody, and laden with musk and incense! So raise your heads, And obliterate the silence of graves! No one could ever believe That you are people brave! ------------- Now the martyr is entering, Raising the banner of martyrdom. The soaring eagle is hovering Above the heads of will! It has never occurred to me That one can adore his homeland to that extent! Be afraid not after this day For the people now has a leader! Little drops of water, Make the mighty ocean! For we have attained part of our dreams! So prepare yourself for more! Your sun in the horizon is shining anew! The revolters’ revolution has flourished; The revolters’ revolution has commenced Resuscitating you to life! Raise your heads up high! They will never bow After this day but to God! Engrave, on the liberation day, In eyes, in hearts, on the foreheads The emblem of glory! Demolish your walls and burn all tyrants! Your patience is amazingly great! I could not tolerate your endurance! You came out of the blue as a spark As daring lions, You came from the skies of glory; As a vulture soaring sky-high! We smelt and envisaged Your victory and advent A long time ago Then it came true! Myriad thanks to God! ------------------------------- Ye revolters, you said: “We have conquered the impossible!” I could not believe it Yet you came to us with an evidence great! The dream of generations that receded With determination! Ye, you were just to all generations, And remained as lofty as palm trees! O my lost lifetime! Afraid of everything I was! Always stranded! Nothing is left to me, Yet the dawn has fallen From your hands, pure, sweet, and chaste! ---------------------------- Now the martyr enters The Square of liberty, delivering a speech In the crowds. Returning from the noble journey of death Like the sun that is now rising brightly! Now it is fluttering, Like a bird, while all people are gazing, In awe, we saw the visages of all great men! Oh martyr, tell me how you dwell Sky-high? How you dwell in hearts? And we tell our selves: “Come back, O great martyr!” Then we scream, and drown In tears! --------------------- Now the martyr enters, O Egypt, raise your head up high, And put off the mourning dress! Be clad in this robe, The wedding-dress, The chastity-dress, That they knit, Of the blood of martyrs! Lift up banners of victory! This is your age! Our lifetime will never go back We know, you’re great! We always knew your sweet endurance When the calamities fell! You are the pure Egypt, The great and lofty Egypt! This was the trial, the blight! The martyrs will come inevitably, Determined to let you remain Raised sky-high! Now the martyr enters, Singing, Never ends were attained, With wishes detained, Rather life should be vanquished! Tell all that Egypt is our beloved! Reassure her That, from our blood, Will sprouts be watered! O Egypt, we will always defend your land, To fight, And the revolters are roaring, Quaking earth, proceeding, determinately! Never will we gamble Even if the square is turned to A large tomb or a shroud! There is no room in my homeland for rottenness! We’ve come to you to cleanse our land With our blood, To raise in your den All the cubs of the homeland To see the resplendent sun! Verily, what a great day! The day of glory, The day of liberty! The day of reward!
