A Wandering Ship

I am looking for a wandering ship in your eyes A ship that has lost its way Among human ports And is in search of s safe harbor A green island Where palm trees are children And the moon a cake Stuffed with apple jam Where lovers wrap themselves With orange leaves And fear nothing Save brightly colored butterflies The trees disrobe at night That they may don the moon's attire During the day They put on threads of the sun While, unabashed, the river Woos and coos the green grass Mothers wear variegated field clothes They prune trees Pick fruit Heat the milk for the young ones And make coffee For their mud- scented husbands Returning with straw baskets Loaded with the fruit of love And the salt of patience Mixed with green grass Where girls are tastier than pears And more supple than the dough Of brown wheat Yea, a faraway island Undiscovered by Magellan or Columbus Its photos never before taken By their satellites Nor documented By their geographical dictionaries Its turquoise shores Resemble my azure dreams, Its mythical sailing ships Bear resemblance to the Hero of the Orient: Aladdin Its mangroves grow Among the grooves Of the palm of my hand Ever wooing the shores of my heart Its stones are pure-white Like the mouth of a hungry new babe Sucking at its mother's breast. Its fishes Gather together at night To divulge lovers' whispers To the palm trees, stars and the moon Its mosses are made crimson red By the wine of love Copiously pouring on its shores Its silken wings Beat and clap at night To the swaying shadows Of dancing men and women And repose during daytime Like a pampered bride So, have you seen that wandering ship ?O Pirate
