A Professional Thief

In a sober moment You stole my cloud And stealthily slunk away Lest the guard of the green hill Should notice you When the daffodils suddenly yawned And rose flies heavily swarmed When the humming bird Swelled the Spring Symphony With its whirring You then filled your pockets With clusters of sugar And picked all the jasmine flowers That covered the wooden chair That we both sat on When you surprised me With your gift to me On my birthday You presented me with a purple box With a colored bird Attached to its ribbon And singing love-songs to me You have robbed me of all my historic And classical possessions Including my broken radio The romantic Monte Carlo songs And the loose cassette tapes You have stolen my lilac crown Along with my maritime ring And cashmere shawl You have stolen the musical note From my throat Stolen my hairpin That you bent with your snow-white teeth So that you can place in it A red rose You have unkempt my gypsy hair And stolen the straw hat That I have forgotten on the body Of a young lass, in the pineapple islands When we were engulfed by a turquoise wave To cover our bare bosoms And make neat and trim Our untidy straw skirts O professional thief You are still scheming With the mafia of memories To scatter the travel bags That we both placed In the backseat For the final farewell panorama Yet, no matter how often you flee You shall ever be imprisoned Within your own shadow Within your voice Within the air in your lungs And tethered by iron shackles on your feet Never sleeping for one single night Without heavy burdens
